The group has traveled for two days and is settling down to camp for the second night. Ricker is traveling slowly. He couldn't move as fast as he'd hoped and so you are still two days from the village. Just as you are settling down around the fire, you hear wolves snarling over the next rise.

Ricker jumps up and then immediately falls back down. "Gah! My ribs!" He starts coughing uncontrollably. "I'm in no shape to fight, friends. But those wolves sound like they're after blood. They need to be taken care of." His eyes stay downcast and you can all tell that he feels deeply ashamed at admitting his weakness.

Suddenly you hear the cries of someone fighting for their life. It is also coming from over the rise. A man is in trouble!

You all head over the rise and see a nightmare in the fading light. A pack of wolves has cornered a strange fiery creature at the opening of a pass between two cliffs. Just as you take this all in, most of the wolves turn and growl at you!

Mambele cannot help but grin in childlike excitement despite the danger. Not that he's particularly fond of fighting, but he certainly is fond of drama, at least when it gives him a chance to shine. "No offense, Fang, but your friends are toast."

His rod is at the ready, having drawn it on his way up the hill. It is much more ornate than it has a reason to be, given the fact that it's a rather weak artifact, and is shaped like two snakes coiled together, their mouths grasping a large steel ring engraved with zodiac signs.

Jumping forward, he crouches on a nearby shadow, his colorful getup somehow blending in with his surroundings until he is barely visible. In his mind's eye, he draws a star symbol upon the head of the nearest wolf,. He holds the rod up high, and out bursts a small shooting star-like missile, its tip crowned with a planetary ring...
