Occasionally you'll want to do something in the game and the dice just aren't letting you be as awesome as you'd like.

This is where Fate comes in.

Each chapter the entire party will have access to two Judgement Coins. This means that you will share those two coins between all of you.

As for what they do? Well that's the cool part.

If you feel like you just need a small boost, spend a coin. In the Heroic Tier (Level 1-10) this will give you a +5 to your roll. Paragon will get you a +10 and Epic will net you a +15.

But if you feel like gambling a little, just flip the coin.

Either Fate will smile upon you and reward you with automatic success (The equivalent of a natural 20) or you will incur Fate's wrath and be penalized with automatic failure (a natural 1).

So what will it be? Spend it for a modest boost, or play the game? That's up to you.

But for each coin left over when the chapter ends, you will receive a reward. Usually it will be experience, to be calculated by level, but sometimes you might get something a little more tangible.

Just let me know that you want to spend or gamble a coin and we'll go from there.

Happy gambling.

Here's an example of a Coin Flip.

***

Rajos wants to attempt a daring rescue of the princess. He wants to cut the rope to the chandelier and ride it up to the balcony where the dastardly Duke of Doom is holding her captive.

But rolling the die is too risky. Why not tempt Fate instead?

What is Fate's judgement?

Fate smiles upon Rajos! He automatically succeeds as if he rolled a natural 20! Congratulations to him!

But now he wants to roll an attack against the Duke.

But why not see if Fate is kind once more?

Ouch.

Bad call on that one.

Rajos should have consulted with his party before gambling their coins away.

If he had kept those coins, the party would have been rewarded with the princess' favor.

I guess he learned his lesson when he slipped from the balcony and took 4d6 damage.

Better luck next time.
